Coffee table discussions behind Table View 15
Mar
Table view

I like coffee table discussions, these days such discussions are the highlight of my social life. Not that I’m complaining or anything, I get to learn a lot things about a range of topics. The good thing about a discussion over coffee is that it beats trying to have a conversation in a club with loud music any day.
This past weekend I met up with a few friends and we discussed travelling, one of my friends was telling us about Table View, he is heading down to Cape Town for the International Jazz festival happening on the 30th and 31st of March 2012, so he was telling us about the best places to stay whilst in Cape Town.
Turns out Table View is the place to be, my friend mentioned how young families favour Table View, thus transforming it into a vibrant and growing community. The beachfront is filled with apartment blocks, restaurants, pubs and entertainment venues, making it a fun place to hang out and have a good time.
The beaches are gorgeous and you are guaranteed to enjoy yourself. Activities on the beach include; water skiing, surfing and sailing.
My friend also mentioned how Table View is an escape for him, he enjoys spending a few days out there, just to gather his thoughts and enjoy the simple coastal life.
After our coffee table discussion many of us made it a point to visit Cape Town before the year ends.

Port_Elizabeth

Renting in Port Elizabeth is one of the best decisions one can make. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded with the sun, sand and a lot of fun? One can never be disappointed when it comes to renting near the sea, the views are spectacular they honestly take your breath away. There are quite a number of health advantages when it comes to living near a beach front, here are a few:

  • Sea Air: It’s fresh air something which we seldom get to experience, its calms your brain and immediately relaxes you. One will wake up in the morning feeling fresh and alert.
  • Sun: Sunlight improves your skin provided it’s well protected with sun block. We are advised not to overexpose our skin to the sun but some sun can be good for skin conditions and tanning is fun.
  • Seawater: When living near a beach you have ocean at your disposal meaning one can swim whenever they want. Saltwater helps heal wounds, reduce infection and promote pain relief.

Who says one has to wait for a holiday in order to enjoy the beach? Renting in PE is definitely worth considering. Accommodation is affordable with rates charging between R1 940 – R 9000. Those who live near the ocean are calmer; less stressed due to some of the health benefits of the sun and sea this alone should make you want to rent in PE.

Mar
Fresnaye Cape Town

Exclusivity is always appealing imagine having backstage access to a music concert featuring an international artist, or sitting in a private booth at the Green Point stadium whilst watching a rugby match. How about living in an exclusive, nicely situated Cape Town suburb?
Fresnaye is a suburb positioned on the mountain, set on the slopes of Lion’s Head right in between Sea Point and Bantry Bay. Property in this secluded yet vibrant suburb is exceptionally expensive because of the easy access into Cape Town’s city centre where the metropolitan life takes over and shopping attractions such as the V&A Waterfront are constantly filled with people from all around the world.
Walking and/or driving down the suburb you realize that the street names are named after places in France adding to the town’s uniqueness. The views of the Atlantic where Table Bay and Robben Island are situated will leave you in awe!
When we talk about outdoor activities we talk about the many different shops, bars, clubs and restaurants found in Fresnaye. The town has its own unique cosmopolitan flavour with all the eclectic offerings available.
The beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton are literally up the road just a walkable distance from Fresnaye plus Sea Point’s promenade is very popular with locals, joggers and people talking walks or mothers pushing their babies in prams.

The popular pacific city of Parklands 27
Feb

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to go live in Cape Town, there is something about Cape Town that is highly appealing to me, it could be the ocean or the white sandy beaches or it could be sights such as Table Mountain. Whatever it is Cape Town has some of the most amazing suburbs which are highly sought after.

Cape Town Property

Cape Town has some of the most beautiful suburbs you can possibly see. On the popular Blaauwberg area you find suburbs such as Parklands which is a part of the fastest growing areas on the coast, located just 15 minutes from Cape Town and on the sought after Atlantic coastline.

Parklands’ is a very modern suburb the property available is in the form of townhouses, flats, apartments, cluster homes and large villas. Living in Parklands is pretty much like being on holiday all year around thanks to the white sandy beaches that seem to stretch on forever.

Residents in Parklands have a variety of restaurants, cafés and clubs to look forward to  that are lined up on the vibrant beachside. An afternoon spent on at the beach will consist of kite surfing, long walks and swimming especially at Big Bay and Sunset Beach.

So be it a holiday destination or your new place of residence Parklands should be number one on your priority list.

Be prepared for all those extra costs that come with renting property 27
Feb

Finding Cape Town property to let is all well, you can be prepared enough to pay off the deposit, key fees as well as the cover the water and electricity bills but will you be able to afford all the necessary things that you need?

Movers

We often take for granted the small things until they are no longer available to us. Moving house is a process and it may mean going a few days without a bed or a fridge.

Here are a few extra expenses which you may not have appropriately planned for in your budget:

  • Moving

Finding a van or a moving company to help you move your stuff from one place to another may take longer than you think, movers are often booked long in advance and you can’t really book a moving company until such a time that you have the keys to your new place in your hand.

  • Furniture, utensils and appliances

The possibility of you having to buy new furniture, fridges and cereal bowls is highly likely these things aren’t cheap so make sure you have money set aside for such.

  • Food and toiletries

After all the time, energy and money used on the move you will also need to make sure you can afford necessities such as food and toiletries.

Living in a new place is exciting but make sure all your residential bases are covered.

Find a house in a special place where mountains truly meet 17
Feb

Erongo Mountain

We have all heard the phrase that says “people meet but mountains never greet” which is true.

But like many things in life our perceptions of the truth and what is actually true are often very different, take for example looking at houses for sale in Cape Town would you have imagined that there is a place very similar to Cape Town in neighbouring country Namibia?

The region of Erongo in Namibia is popular for its colourful volcanic landscapes, rock art, and animals such as the desert elephant and black rhino. Named after the Erongo Mountain which is a well-known landmark in Namibia, this well-developed region has everything a modern day African City should have. If you are looking at houses for sale in the region expect weekends to include fishing, winding surfing and there’s even an annual yacht race.

When one thinks of Cape Town they think of Table Mountain, those interested in houses for sale in Cape Town can expect to live in close proximity to one of the most popular Mountains in the African continent. Cape Town is more a holiday destination with attractions like the V&A Waterfront, Lions head and all those wonderful beaches.

Erongo and Cape Town have a lot in common; for one their Mountains play pivotal roles in shaping their identities despite the fact that Erongo Mountain and Table Mountain will never meet, not even their shadows will cross.

Cape Town vs. Johannesburg; which city would you rather live in? 17
Feb
Cape Town Home

Let’s say you work in a company that has offices out in Johannesburg and Cape Town, your superiors then give you the option to choose which ever city you want to be based in, which city would you want to live in?

For some, the obvious choice would be to look at houses for sale in Cape Town, there is less traffic, shorter working hours, the weather is amazing, the pace is slower and then there’s the beach. Others however prefer the fast paced life-style of Johannesburg they enjoy the hustle and bustle and the vibrant environment the city offers.

Houses for sale in Cape Town’s northern suburbs that have; 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 lounges, staff quarters, alarms, and an access gates cost around R 3,495,000 negotiable. A house for sale in Johannesburg’s northern suburb with similar features will set you back R 3,950,000.

From a financial stand-point Cape Town wins this battle but all in all it is really up to you, wherever you are happy that’s where you should be.

The Cape Town vs. Johannesburg war won’t end anytime soon, people have different priorities and preferences some people have the luxury of choice and others are privileged enough to be based in both Cities, and to the privilege one’s I ask; why choose one when you can have both?
